Print Design & Production
We love visual culture.
Books, catalogs, stationery, hand-made CD covers, postcards....
Stuff you can feel with your eyes and your hands.
Homenaje a Orozco Catalog Cover (with band)
client: Instituto Cultural Cabañas
design: Dadacode
development: Dadacode
Cover for the exhibition catalog Homenaje a Orozco. 125 aniversario del natalicio, Insituto Cultural Cabañas, Guadalajara, Mexico.
The cover features a superimposition of paintings, on top of which is a removable band printed on vellum. Depicted on the band is a map of Guadalajara during Orozco's time.
The exhibition had two parts—“Orozco desde el siglo XXI,” a selection of individual works in commemoration of the artist; and “Obra pública. Ruta Orozco,” a series of public works.
The cover represents then both parts of the exhibition as a whole—the color cover representing the individual works, and the band representing the public works. (See next slide for cover without the band.)
Homenaje a Orozco Catalog Cover (without band)

This is the cover with the band removed.
Lush colors evoke Orozco’s sensibility.
Homenaje a Orozco Catalog Spread

The book uses Univers throughout, except for the body text of the catalog essays, which uses Baskerville.
The text was set in two columns with a ragged right edge.
I love books.

Homenaje a Orozco Catalog Spread
client: Instituto Cultural Cabañas
design: Dadacode
development: Dadacode
This is a spread featuring works by two different artists.
While some spreads feature works by the same artist, I also enjoyed creating some sense of tension or dialog by the juxtaposition of works by different artists.

The first pages of the “Obra pública. Ruta Orozco” section.
Homenaje a Orozco Catalog Spread
client: Instituto Cultural Cabañas
design: Dadacode
development: Dadacode
This spread is from the section “Obra pública. Ruta Orozco” and features works by two different artists.
To distinguish this section of the catalog from the section of individual works that hung in the museum, I created a more journalistic feel by playing with image scale, placement and bleeds.
